Loki said it perfectly. I have sled dogs that pull like crazy when they are in harness. The same dogs will heel and go for a nice walk without a leash. If anything I think that obedience training will make them better sled dogs. It keeps their brains more active and teaches them to listen to you. Teaching them down and stay when harnessed to a sled can make mushing a lot easier on you.

You don't need a prong collar- Just a plain old choke chain and leash. You can never ruin a dog by teaching them manners. I would suggest you find a trainer that can help you get started since they are rather large dogs. You can do weight pulling with them in United Kennel Club too, so that would be a fun activity for your family since they already know how to pull. Have fun with your new family members! Remember, Sit! Stay! Heel! :)

Absolutely not. Teach your dogs that collar and leash mean "heel" and that the harness & sled means pull. There may be a little confusion at first, but they should get the hang of it pretty quick.
